The park's three sections occupy lands alongside the Connecticut River, north of Hartford. Park activities include picnicking, fishing, boating, hiking, and biking. == History == Leary writes that the Adriaen Block was the first European visitor to the interior of Connecticut when he made his way up the river in 1619. Block sailed up as far as the ship could go and established a trading post which grew into the city of Hartford, Connecticut. In order to enhance the profitability of the river, locks were built around the rapids, giving the town of Windsor Locks, Connecticut its name.〔 The State of Connecticut acquired the land in 1968, but the land remains largely undeveloped. Located between railroad tracks and the river, the park has been the subject of plans to develop a river-walk-type Park.
